UK unemployment rate lowest since 1975

So, let’s have a look at the statistics. Unemployment rate fell to 4.4% that’s by 57,000 looking at the three months to June 2017. It’s also said to be the lowest since 1975.

Average weekly earnings increased by 2.1% compared to the previous year.

However, with inflammation standing at 2.6%, real average earnings still fell by 0.5% So it’s
not all good news.

The proportion of people in work at 75.1% is highest since 1971, but this is also due to the
introduction of later state pension age for women.

In the three months to June there were 338,000 more people in work than in previous year.

833,000 people are on zero hours contracts for April to June 2017 that’s by 20,000 lower
than for previous year.
